In a Multi-Academy Trust one person is responsible to the Regional Schools Commissioner and the DfE. Gary Lewis is the Chief Executive Officer and oversees school performance and produces a Key Performance Indicator Report each term for the Trustees. He is supported in this work by an independent School Improvement Partner.
As our ethos is one of collegiality we have chosen to deliver the executive functions in as open and transparent a way as possible. So we currently have an Executive team which includes all the Headteachers within the Trust. They meet at least fortnightly to discuss shared business. Each member of the Executive Team leads on a key cross-trust theme e.g. Vulnerable Learners, CPD, Assessment, Curriculum etc. Together the team produce the Trust Development Plan. A new structure will be implemented during the year to reflect the move of the Trust to a Hubs model.
At present we have a Chief Operating Officer and HR manager and will add other roles in due course as shared serviced develop.
