We are delighted to announce that Gordano Business Partners has expanded and relaunched as Lighthouse Business Partners; incorporating all three secondary schools in the Lighthouse Schools Partnership: Gordano School, Backwell School and Chew Valley School. This exciting development will see the partnership grow and provide further business and career opportunities for over 4500 students across the Trust.
Businesses have identified a number of reasons for working with schools. These include helping to close the gap between their needs and education provision, and making sure enough young people are thinking about careers in their sectors.
Over 100 guests attended the launch Business Breakfast on 15th May.
Headteacher, Tom Inman opened the breakfast and Gary Lewis, Chief Executive of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership, gave an update on the Trust’s growth and future plans.
Our guest speaker was entrepreneur and polar explorer Antony Jinman, recognised for being the twelfth Britain to have skied to the Geographic North Pole and ski solo to the Geographic South Pole.
Keen to share his knowledge and experiences, the talk provided a fascinating insight into Antony’s personal journey on how he came to be a modern day polar explorer. Antony discussed his latest venture LiketoBe a networking platform connecting employers with educators.
Many thanks to our Sixth Form students from Gordano School, Backwell School and Chew Valley who spoke about their experiences from a recent partnership conference held at UWE.
Employer engagement is a key aspect of our Business Partnership and can include: mentoring activities, work experience, guest speakers, links to alumni, careers fairs and networking events. Partners have the opportunity to increase their community profile and get involved in business and careers related events.
