We are delighted to announce Blagdon Primary School has joined the Lighthouse Schools Partnership as of 1st October 2019.
The primary school is located in the beautiful village of Blagdon, on the edge of the Mendip Hills. The school motto is ‘Be the best you can be’ which makes clear the commitment to develop each child to flourish as they progress through the school.
Head Jenny Campbell said: “Blagdon Primary has been working closely with Lighthouse Partnership Trust for a number of months and we are delighted to be joining them formally. We have already benefitted from the support of the Trust with the building work that the school has been undergoing and our work to improve the school for our pupils and wider community. We are looking forward to the opportunities it will continue to offer our pupils and staff over the coming years.”
Lighthouse Schools Partnership is a Multi-Academy Trust formed in September 2016 with 23 schools across the age range from Nursery to Sixth Form. The Trust includes both community and Church of England Schools and two Teaching Schools.
Chief Executive Gary Lewis commented: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Blagdon Primary School to Lighthouse Schools Partnership. We have had the privilege of working with colleagues at Blagdon to support training and development since the early spring and I was really glad to see this work and the success of teachers in their classrooms recognised in Ofsted’s visit last summer and in the very strong SAT outcomes for Year 6 pupils in 2019.
“We have also been working very closely with leaders and governors in the school to secure funding and commission building improvements on the site. These are the first fruits of great things to come and the new Head, Jenny Campbell, and I are completely committed to Blagdon Primary’s future, continuing to serve its community as an excellent school.”
To date, schools in the Trust have collaborated very closely on staff training and the development of new shared approaches to raise standards for children and young people.
