Golden Valley is a vibrant and welcoming school

Following an inspection in May 2025 Ofsted has graded Golden Valley Primary School as Good in all areas.
This is the first time the school has been inspected under Section 5 of the Education Act 2005 and was conducted under the new Ofsted framework in which single word judgements for overall effectiveness are no longer awarded.
Inspectors noted the dynamic learning environment of the school “Golden Valley Primary is a vibrant and welcoming school. Staff are ambitious for pupils and have high expectations of them. Pupils rise to these expectations and achieve well, as exemplified in recent published outcomes.”
The report also highlights how the wide range of additional activities that the school offers helps enhance the pupils learning and development wider than key subjects “A thoughtfully designed programme of learning and activities supports pupils' personal development. For example, children in the Reception Year learn about making positive friendships. By the time pupils are in Year 6, they explore the importance of having high self-esteem. Pupils develop a good understanding of current affairs and different religious festivals”.
Reading is at the heart of the Golden Valley curriculum and the school’s approach to developing reading skills was also noted for the positive this impact this has on the children “older pupils love reading with the younger pupils. All pupils value this special activity”. This initiative, and others, helps (pupils) “to become confident and fluent readers.”
Headteacher Mr Richard Riordan "This Ofsted report is testament to the new school vision and its impact. I am incredibly proud of our staff and children, of the quality of our teaching and the fabulous learning it enables. We welcome the feedback and are excited for the future as we continue our ongoing school improvement journey. Our thanks to governors and parents for their partnership with us.”
Following the publication of Ofsted’s report, Dr Gary Lewis, Chief Executive of Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) said, “Golden Valley Primary have undertaken a lot of change and improvements since joining our Trust. The school staff have welcomed new initiatives and the impacts of these can clearly been seen in pupils’ development and outcomes. I know that the school will continue to flourish within its community. Mr Riordan, and his team, should be very proud of this report.”
