Golden Valley Primary School Celebrates 50 years

Golden Valley Primary School, in Nailsea, is celebrating its 50th birthday with a day of celebration, memories and community spirit.
The school marked the occasion with a 70s themed day on Friday 23 October (including fancy dress), a themed school lunch and special guests. The day also provided an opportunity to look back through treasured memories of pupils from across the years, as part of a special school assembly.
To mark 50 years of learning, the school decided to create a dedicated library space to honour those who have come before us and inspire the children going forward. Reading is at the heart of the school’s curriculum and opens up a world of imagination and learning to excite, engage and inspire.

Mr Richard Riordan, Headteacher at Golden Valley said “50 years of Golden Valley is a milestone we are incredibly proud of. We have loved celebrating with our school community, whilst taking the time to look back over all those who have been a part of the past five decades at the school. Making memories with children, teaching them kindness, challenging them to be their best and inspiring excellence is the Golden Valley way. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the tradition of excellence at Golden Valley over the last 50 years.“
Since opening in 1976, Golden Valley has educated thousands of local children and has remained committed to providing high-quality education, nurturing achievement and supporting the wellbeing of every pupil. The School joined Lighthouse Schools Partnership in 2023.
Golden Valley has been preparing for the day of celebrations since September. Pupils have been looking at different aspects of the last 50 years with children in themed assemblies including black history, technology, world and UK events and popular culture. Parents have also been invited in to look through old photographs of the school and to visit the new library space.
Dr Gary Lewis, CEO of Lighthouse Schools Partnership said, “Congratulations to everyone as we reach this big milestone. For half a century, the school has inspired and supported generations of young people, and we are proud to celebrate its history, achievements and positive impact. We look forward to seeing the school continue to flourish for many years to come.”
