Baroness Barran pays visit to Chew Valley School

Chew Valley School were pleased to be paid a visit by Baroness Barran, Minister for the School and College System, on Friday 12 January, exploring school attendance, and the great work that Chew Valley School have done to improve attendance levels.

Baroness Barran is visiting 10 schools across the country as part of the Department for Education (DfE) focus on attendance, exploring what schools are doing to respond to post-pandemic challenges regarding attendance at schools.

During her morning at Chew Valley School, she spent time meeting staff and students, exploring the ways in which Chew Valley are working to deliver strong attendance levels. Central to that is this school's work to be a warm and welcoming place for its students. They are also working with parents to build the partnership and social contract that commits us all to support children and young people towards excellent attendance.

Lighthouse Schools Partnership’s vision states that "Education transforms our lives for the better and forever." If we really believe this (and we do!), we want every young person in school, every day.
