The Governing Body of St Mary Redcliffe Temple School (SMRT) are consulting with their staff, families and the wider community on converting to an academy and joining Lighthouse Schools Partnership.

About St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School (SMRT)
SMRT is at 11-18 heavily oversubscribed co-educational Church of England secondary school located in the heart of Bristol. With nearly 1800 students the comprehensive school provides education and support to a diverse community across greater Bristol.

About Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP)
Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) is an established Multi Academy Trust with 34 schools all of which are in Bristol, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset.
LSP has representation from the Diocese of Bristol in its governance structure and has an excellent relationship with the Diocese, so SMRT's status as a Voluntary Aided school would be protected.

Consultation Process
The 10-week consultation period, excluding school and public holidays, officially opened at 4.00pm on Tuesday 2 December 2025 and will close at 4.00pm on Thursday 5 March 2026.
