Wraxall School - Variation to church school admissions oversubscription criteria September 2021
During the COVID-19 pandemic, churches and other religious buildings have been closed by law for public worship and for other uses. Since Wraxall School’s oversubscription criteria include church attendance, (at a specified frequency and period of time) parents and their children are unable to meet this criterion under the terms of our current admissions arrangements.
Therefore the following variation is being proposed to the admission arrangements for Wraxall School:
To the current oversubscription criteria relating to church attendance the proposed variation for admissions in September 2021, Year R as given below:
“4.Children who themselves, or whose parent(s) attend All Saints Church, Wraxall or St Bartholomew’s Church, Failand on at least one day per month and have attended for the previous twelve consecutive months prior to application.”
add the following requested variation:
“ In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these [admissions] arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship”.

Lighthouse Schools Partnership is currently consulting on admissions arrangements for 2022-2023 all the primary schools within the Trust
The consultation will run from Tuesday 24 November 2020 to midday on Tuesday 19 January 2021.
Changes this year are:
- Whitchurch Primary School in Bath and NE Somerset has joined the Trust and is now included in our B&NES Primary Schools Policy;
- High Down Infant School is consulting on reducing its Planned Admissions Number from 90 to 60 as a result of declining demand for places in Portishead. Further information on this change can be found on the High Down Schools website.
In addition, please note:
- From 1 January 2021, in line with guidance from HM Government, the policies will be amended to remove the criteria under ‘Who Can apply’ section “they are from the European Economic Area (EEA)”.
